Discover the timeless delight of perfectly cooked classic brown rice!
Directions
Rinse the brown rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
This helps remove excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the rinsed brown rice, water, and a pinch of salt (if using).
Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let the rice simmer for about 40-45 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
You can check the rice after about 30 minutes to see if it's done to your preference.
Once the rice is cooked, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for about 5-10 minutes.
This allows the rice to steam and become fluffier.
Fluff the rice with a fork and serve it as a side dish or as a base for your favorite dishes.
Note
Classic Brown Rice
For added flavor, you can use vegetable or chicken broth instead of water.
