Indulge in the timeless elegance of our Classic Angel Food Cake!
Directions
Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
In a bowl, sift together the cake flour and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites on medium speed until foamy.
Add the cream of tartar and salt, and continue beating until soft peaks form.
Gradually add the remaining 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, a little at a time, while continuing to beat the egg whites. Beat until stiff, glossy peaks form.
Gently fold in the vanilla and almond extracts.
Carefully transfer the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Once baked, immediately invert the cake pan onto a bottle neck or cooling rack to cool completely.
Once fully cooled, run a knife around the edges of the cake to release it from the pan.
Slice and serve the classic angel food cake on its own or with your choice of toppings.
